Join us at Bandshell Park in bringing community events to life through the Highwater Music & Movie Series and Community Block Parties!

Volunteers play a key role in creating a welcoming and fun environment by helping with event setup and take down, keeping the space clean, and ensuring trash is picked up throughout the event.

Volunteers also support community partners by helping them transport and set up their tables, engaging with youth and families attending the events, and assisting at the passport table to encourage participation in activities. This is a great opportunity to connect with the community, support local organizations, and help create memorable experiences for all ages.

Water Station Volunteer

Time: 8:30–10:30 AM or 10:15 AM–12:15 PM Location: Riverland Community College – Water stations located at the East and West ends of the path between the buildings.

Volunteer Duties

Welcome participants and offer water as they stop by. Keep the water station clean, organized, and well-stocked. Pick up trash and encourage participants to dispose of cups in the provided trash cans. Monitor the water supply and contact Michelle Baer if the station is running low on water. Provide friendly assistance and answer basic questions or direct participants to event staff as needed.

Event Help Desk Volunteer Duties (Volunteer and Industry Rep Check-In, Runners)

Time: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM and 10:15 AM – 12:15 PM
Location: Riverland Community College – Enter through Door 7 (main door) and park in the main entrance parking lot.

Volunteer Duties

Check in volunteers and business/industry representatives as they arrive. Provide each guest with a map and information packet. Remind volunteers and industry representatives that lunch will be available from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM in the Hospitality Rooms. Answer basic questions and direct guests to the appropriate event locations or staff as needed. Help create a welcoming and organized check-in experience.

Stay flexible—this role may shift briefly to wherever help is needed most.

Bus Drop-Off/Pick-Up Volunteer

Time: 8:30–10:30 AM or 10:15 AM–12:15 PM
Location: Riverland Community College – Enter through Door 7 (main entrance).

Volunteer Duties

Arrive a few minutes early and wear your volunteer t-shirt. Hold the welcome signBoard each bus before students exit and greet students using the provided script, including door number information. Assist students with cinch sacks and belongings as needed.Direct bus drivers to the designated exit and parking area.Hold the departure sign Help organize students as they wait for their buses at the end of the event. Watch for students who may need assistance and report any concerns to the event coordinator.

Exterior Security Volunteer Duties

Time: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM and 10:15 AM-12:15 PM

Location: Riverland Community College – Enter through Door 7 (main door) and park in the main entrance parking lot.

Stand near assigned exterior doors and monitor the area. Exterior locations include Main Entrance (E7), E8, W2, North Parking Lot (near baseball field/gym doors), and outdoor area near East Campus. Redirect participants back to the event if they attempt to leave the designated event areas. Help ensure participants remain on campus grounds (no off-campus trips, including Kwik Trip runs). Provide a friendly reminder of event expectations and safety guidelines. Contact the event leader or security team with any questions, concerns, or situations needing assistance

Floater/Hallway Monitor Volunteer

Time: 8:30–10:30 AM or 10:15 AM–12:15 PM

Location: Riverland Community College – East Campus and West Campus hallways, exterior spaces, lawn areas, and parking lots where business and industry partners are located.

Volunteer Duties

Continuously walk through hallways, rooms, and exterior areas to provide support where needed. Check in with Cluster Liaisons, clusters, hospitality rooms, bus drop-off/pick-up areas, and other event locations. Periodically check bathrooms and report any concerns. Encourage students to explore nearby activities and engage with business and industry partners. Provide coverage and step in for volunteers who need a break. Assist with general event flow and help address questions or needs as they arise.

Morning of Set-Up

Time: 7:30am-9:00am

Location: Riverland Community College East Campus Door E7, park in main parking lot.

Volunteer Duties

Assist with setting up yard signs, water stations, hospitality rooms, and outdoor flags. Welcome and assist business and industry partners with transporting supplies to their assigned locations. Help industry partners get settled and set up their exhibit spaces. Remind business and industry partners to check in at the Event Help Desk upon arrival. Support event staff with additional set-up tasks as needed to ensure everything is ready before participants arrive.

Our current tutors are supporting students on a weekly schedule. Hours are flexible, and current tutoring locations are at Austin Public Schools, the YMCA, or the Austin Public Library.
