Sign Holder Volunteer Duties
Time: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM and 10:15 AM-12:15 PM
Location: Riverland Community College – Enter through Door 7 (main door) and park in the main entrance parking lot.
Note: A volunteer t-shirt will be provided to help you stand out and be easily recognized.
Arrive early and get ready
- Wear your volunteer t-shirt so students and staff can easily identify you.
- Carry the event coordinator’s phone number in case questions or emergencies arise.
- Position yourself where arriving students can see you clearly.
Hold the sign high and visible
- Think “business sign twirler”—keep it noticeable and fun, but safe.
- Make sure the sign is facing arriving students at all times.
Bring the energy
- Be talkative, cheerful, and encouraging as students arrive.
- Use upbeat words or gestures to get students excited for the event.
Direct students to the correct cluster
- Clearly point students where to go.
- Use simple, consistent directions so no one gets confused.
Keep the flow smooth and safe
- Stay alert to ensure students aren’t crossing unsafe areas to reach you.
- If you notice a confused or lost student, guide them personally to the cluster.
