As part of our Backpack Program, we are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist in delivering packed food to local schools in Austin. Your support will help ensure that children have access to essential weekend meals and snacks.
Here's what the task involves:
1. Pick-up Location: You will start at the back/alley of the Austin Aspires building located at 318 North Main Street. Here, you will collect totes filled with food bags designed to provide weekend food for children.
2. Assignment Details: You will receive a list specifying which school(s) you will be delivering to, along with instructions on which door to use for deliveries. You will also receive contact information, including program coordinator and janitor phone numbers.
3. Vehicle Space: Ensure that your vehicle has enough space to accommodate 3-4 totes (Sterilite 18 Gallon | Overall Assembled Size: 23" x 17 1/4" x 16 5/8")
4. School Delivery: Proceed to your assigned school, where you will be met by the school janitor.
5. Time Commitment: Each delivery is estimated to take approximately 30 minutes.
Requirements:
- You must have access to a car, a valid driver's license, and insurance.
- Only the student who is driving the car and to whom it belongs will receive credit for volunteering. If two students are pairing up, only the driver and the owner of the car will get credit, not the passenger.
BEFORE YOU REGISTER: Prior to clicking submit on the second page of the registration process, please make sure to provide details about your car in the RESPONSE NOTES. This information is essential for assessing the capacity to accommodate food totes. Please specify the SIZE and MODEL of your car. *****
