The United Way's Backpack Program offers children food for the weekend. -- These items are carefully chosen to ensure that children who might otherwise go without food during the weekend have access to child-friendly, easy-to-prepare meals and snacks. The bags are discreetly distributed to children at the end of the week for them to take home.
As a volunteer, you will be expected to perform the following tasks:
- Food Bag Assembly: Work collaboratively with fellow volunteers to efficiently pack bags with specified food items.
- **Physical Fitness: We require volunteers to have the physical capacity to participate in activities involving lifting, bending, and moving around. If you have any mobility concerns or limitations, please inform us immediately, as this volunteer opportunity involves various physical components.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure that the correct items are included in each bag, maintaining a high level of precision.
NEW LOCATION: Packing will now be at the Austin Aspires new building / 318 North Main Street, Austin MN 55912. The building is on Main Street, across from Piggy Blue's Bar-B-Que.

For Large Private Groups: If your organization, church, or youth group is interested in scheduling a volunteering day with the Backpack Program, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
