Volunteer Opportunities From: United Way of Mower County

Join us for an interactive evening designed specifically for preschool staff, bus aides, daycare providers, and other early childhood professionals!

Dinner will be provided. The Purpose Pathways provides training, coaching and professional support to help nonprofit and community organizations strengthen their impact. All services are provided free of charge.

During the emotional resiliency portion of the training, participants will:

Recognize their own triggers and stress responsesReframe how they interpret challenging behaviorLearn strategies for responding calmly and intentionallyBuild stronger, more respectful relationships with childrenCreate a hands-on resilience toolkit to take back to workLeave with practical strategies you can use right away

Training Schedule

4:15 PM – Arrive & Dinner
4:30 PM – Emotional Resiliency Training with Angie Ellsworth
5:30 PM – First Aid Skills (non-certified)
5:45 PM – CPR Training (certification available)
7:15 PM – End

About the Facilitator

Angie Ellsworth, MS, LSW, LSC, is the Founder and Executive Director of Timeout Behavior Coaching, LLC, where she and her team train and coach parents and teachers in evidence-based positive behavior strategies to create a more calm and respectful environment and build healthier relationships. As a wife, parent of three, and with nearly 30 years of experience as a social worker, school counselor, and behavior coach, Angie understands the challenges happening in the trenches. It is an honor for her to now walk beside caring adults as their coach and support them in more meaningful and transformational ways.

First Aid & CPR Training

Mower County Health & Human Services will provide hands-on First Aid and CPR skills training following the emotional resiliency session.

First Aid skills training will be non-certified

CPR certification will be available

The 9/11 Heroes Run 5K is in need of volunteers for the 2026 race!  What: Volunteers are needed to hand out event materials, keep everyone going in the right direction and help with other general event needs. Free T-shirt! Time:  The 9/11 Heroes Run 5K will start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12 Location: at the SPAM® Museum (101 3rd Ave NE) in Austin, Minn.

United Way is seeking dedicated volunteers to serve as Bus Aides for the Rainbow Route Preschool Bus. As a Bus Aide, you will help supervise and engage with preschool children during their ride to and from school. This is a fun and meaningful way to support young children while ensuring their safety on the bus.

Schedule

Monday through Thursday
Time: Daytime hours

Responsibilities

Arrive at SMART Transit at the assigned time
Retrieve the Rainbow Route Bus Aide bag
Ride the bus and assist children with seat belts
Sing songs, engage with the children, and ensure a safe ride

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old and possess a valid driver's license (You will not drive the bus; the license is just required) Must pass a background check ** Before you get on the bus, you will need to pass a background check**Enjoy working with young children Reliable, flexible, and able to sit and stand as needed
