Overview: As a Volunteer for the Promise Advocates Cohort (PAC) with Austin Aspires, you will play an essential role in supporting the children of parents participating in the program. The children will be in a separate space from the parents, and your primary responsibility will be to supervise, engage, and ensure their safety while providing a positive and enriching experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision: Oversee the children in the designated room, ensuring they are safe and well-behaved during program activities.
- Engagement: Lead and facilitate fun, interactive activities for children that encourage learning, creativity, and social interaction. Activities may include arts and crafts, group games, storytelling, or educational exercises. Activities will be provided.
- Safety & Well-Being: Actively monitor the children to maintain a safe and supportive environment. Respond promptly to any emergencies or concerns that arise and follow established safety protocols.
- Support: Assist in maintaining the room and materials, ensuring the space is clean, organized, and inviting for the children.
- Communication: Provide regular feedback to the PAC Coordinator on the children's activities and any notable behavior or concerns that may arise.
- Set-Up & Take-Down: Help with setting up the activity space before the program begins and assist with cleaning and packing up after the program ends.
Qualifications: Passion for working with children and supporting youth development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and manage children in a positive and inclusive manner.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and focused in a dynamic, group environment.
- Previous experience working with children in volunteer or professional settings is a plus but not required.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with other volunteers and staff.
