Bus Drop-Off/Pick-Up Volunteer Duties
Time: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM and 10:15 AM-12:15 PM
Location:
Riverland Community College – Enter through Door 7 (main door) and park in the main entrance parking lot.
Note: A volunteer t-shirt will be provided to help you stand out and be easily recognized.
Arrive early and get ready
- Wear your volunteer t-shirt so students and staff can quickly identify you.
- Carry the event coordinator’s phone number in case questions or emergencies arise.
- Ensure the bus area is clear of any hazards before buses arrive.
Board buses before students exit
- Be ready to greet students warmly as they arrive.
- Use positive energy—a cheerful start helps calm the flow of arrivals.
Provide a consistent welcome and directions
Use the provided script to greet students and share door number information. (We will provide a printed copy)
Guide bus drivers clearly
- Inform each bus driver where to exit and park.
- Confirm they understand pick-up instructions for later in the day.
Assist with cinch sacks and belongings as needed
- Help students carry or organize items to prevent tripping hazards.
Keep students organized during departure
- Assist with lining up or grouping students as they await buses.
- Watch for any students who appear confused or separated from their group and provide guidance.
