Floater / Hallway Monitor Volunteer Duties
Time: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM and 10:15 AM – 12:15 PM
Location: Riverland Community College – Enter through Door 7 (main door) and park in the main entrance parking lot.
Note: A volunteer t-shirt will be provided to help you stand out and be easily recognized.
Arrive early and get ready
- Wear your volunteer t-shirt so students and staff can easily identify you.
- Carry the event coordinator’s phone number in case questions or emergencies arise.
- Review the areas you’ll be monitoring so you know where everything is located.
Sweep through bathrooms periodically
- Ensure restrooms remain clean, orderly, and free of any issues.
- Report any concerns (e.g., maintenance problems or safety issues) immediately.
Check on key event areas regularly
- Stop by clusters, hospitality rooms, and bus drop-off/pick-up zones to make sure volunteers have what they need.
- Touch base with Cluster Liaisons to confirm everything is running smoothly.
Continuously circulate through hallways and rooms
- Keep a steady presence so students and volunteers know where to find help.
- Watch for signs of confusion, lost participants, or safety concerns.
Provide break coverage for other volunteers
- Stand in temporarily for a volunteer if they need to step away.
- Stay flexible—this role adapts to wherever support is needed most.
